Uzhhorod National University

Uzhhorod National University belongs to classic universities of Ukraine, holding the highest 4th level of accreditation. It is one of the largest and best universities of the Carpathian region, situated in a wonderful student city Uzhhorod on the slopes of the Carpathian Mountains in Western Ukraine. Uzhhorod National University enables the students to fully realise their potential and become well-rounded persons. At present about 15,500 students study here. The University takes pride in its 150 doctors of science, 136 candidates of science, 12 laureates of State prize, 57 Doctors Honoris Causa, 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of science, 2 corresponding members of the branches of the National Academy of science of Ukraine.

Through the decades, UzhNU has shown as an active and reliable partner with wide range of EU institutions: from the SMEs to Universities. Particularly, the collaboration concerned teaching and training initiatives and activities in research and innovation fields with the partners from Austria, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania (partnership agreement) and semester abroad study with Poland, Hungary, Slovakia. 

Despite the fact that UzhNU is a classic university, nowadays it is reshaped into Centre that deals not only with education, but linking with the business, industry and authorities. Particularly, such a kind of collaboration is conducted through projects implementation under EU, national and regional funding.  

The university is young, it was founded in 1945 but it has acquired a well-deserved reputation in a scientific world, becoming the landmark and the alma-mater for generations of students who are working successfully in both: Ukraine and other countries of the world. 

In the SKIN project implementation are engaged a team that workiin Research Development and Educational Centre for Molecular Microbiology and Mucosal Immunology (RDEC MMMI). RDEC MMMI is a well-equipped innovative unit routinely involved in international projects on design and implementation of innovative personalised foods (diets) for the prevention of non-communicable chronic diseases by means of directed modulation of human microbiome using in vitro techniques, animal studies and clinical trials. The RDEC MMMI is working in the field of Applied Biosciences, particularly in Health, Food and Environmental Science. The Centre covers topics: general and medical microbiology, molecular microbiology and biomarkers, P4 medicine, biological and medical chemistry, pharmacology, clinical immunology, bioinformatics, bio based economy, environmental protection, natural resources conservation and preservation.
